February has been a month of snow, snow, and more snow. And also bitter, bitter cold. According to the last report I saw from the nearest National Weather Service office, the average temperature during the month has been 0 (yes, zero), and the total snowfall has been in the top 5 since recording started over 100 years ago. Ugh.
So as a result, we shifted focus from fixing up the new guest house, and instead had to work on snowblowing, snowblowing, and more snowblowing. Here's Mike after yet another pass (in sub-zero temperatures) pushing the snowblower along the mile or so of dirt road that we have to manage before anyone with a plow steps in:
And anytime the wind blow, the drifts threaten to close to road again:
We are seriously considering buying a tractor with plow attachment, if we can find a good deal somewhere. (If anyone has any leads, please let us know! An ATV with plow and/or blower attachment would also be a great option.)
We tried to embrace the snow by snowshowing a few times. At least Doug the dog would have a great time, even if the rest of us were miserable.
Let's hope March is a friendlier month weather-wise!!
