The highlights of August were definitely the garden's bounty! We have been enjoying kale, tomatoes, onions, garlic, and even corn!
We also finished the tree house this month! It's a lovely place to watch both sunrises and sunsets.
The "low light" of the month was definitely the scare of the forest fire only a few miles away. It was WAY to close to comfort, but we were amazed and impressed by the response: multiple aircraft circled overhead and dropped various things, including planes with some sort of red fire retardant, huge planes with something white, and helicopters with water from the river. If it weren't so scary, it would have been quite a remarkable display of tax dollars at work!
Finally, we are coming down the home stretch of the guest house's first rental season (airbnb and VRBO).We have met some incredible people and learned so much about how to be better hosts! There are a few days still open in September, then we will be shutting down Oct 1 - Apr 15 to regroup over the winter. We hope you'll visit us in 2020!
Late addendum:
On August 31st, we FINALLY got our first eggs!!! Yay, chickens!!!
